Alicia
Buckley
Alicia is a member of the Buffalo River Dene Nation and an urban Indigenous woman with a degree in Regional and Urban Planning from the University of Saskatchewan. Passionate about community engagement and development, she serves as Program Director at the Aboriginal Friendship Centres of Saskatchewan (AFCS), helping build the Indigenous profile in the province. In this role, she led the creation of the first Indigenous Women’s Economic Framework, now being implemented. Sunshine

My name is Angel Sunshine, and I am a Cultural Humility Facilitator with AFCS. I am from Fishing Lake First Nation in Treaty 4 territory, and I am Saulteaux. I currently work full time at Newo Yotonia Friendship Centre (NYFC) as a Cultural Support Worker and Human Resources Manager. I bring lived experience, cultural knowledge, and a trauma-informed approach into my work, grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing and being.

My facilitation focuses on cultural humility, truth-telling, and understanding the ongoing impacts of colonization, residential schools, and intergenerational trauma. I strive to create safe, respectful spaces for learning, reflection, and honest dialogue, supporting individuals and organizations to move beyond awareness toward accountability, relationship-building, and meaningful action.

My work is rooted in community, compassion, and respect, with a strong commitment to uplifting Indigenous voices and supporting healing for our people and future generations.
